Lumaj Has Fundraising Lead Among 2018 Republican Hopefuls

Fairfield attorney Peter Lumaj raised $105,795 in the fourth quarter of 2016, the most of any of the handful of Republicans seeking statewide office in the 2018 election, according to reports filed with the State Elections Enforcement Commission.

“We did very, very well,” Lumaj told Capitol Watch Tuesday. “The reception has been great. … The money keeps on coming in.

Lumaj, who has raised a total of $126,800, ran for U.S. Senate in 2012 and challenged Secretary of the State Denise Merrill two years ago in what ended up being a close race. He has formed an exploratory committee which means he doesn’t have to commit to which office he may seek. Asked Tuesday Lumaj said he was still weighing his options.

Wolcott, Connecticut, January 9th, 2017 – Today, Peter Lumaj, exploratory candidate for statewide office in 2018, announced the results of his 2016 fourth quarter fundraising and the hire of Brock L. Weber, who will serve as the Exploratory Operations Manager for his statewide exploratory committee, Lumaj Explore.

Lumaj reported strong fundraising numbers coming out of the fourth quarter of 2016. Lumaj reported $105,845.00 raised in the fourth quarter (October 1st – December 31st 2016) bringing his total fundraising number to $126,850.00 since the committee was formed in September of 2016. Lumaj Explore’s current cash on hand balance is in excess of $100,000.


Peter Lumaj to Hold Late in Quarter Fundraiser.

Peter Lumaj, the 2014 Republican candidate for secretary of the state, continues his exploration of high office for 2018 with a late in the quarter fundraiser. Lumaj supporters will be gathering at the home of former state legislator Dennis Cleary’s Wolcott home on December 20th.

Lumaj is a Fairfield lawyer who made a brief and unsuccessful bid for the U.S. Senate in 2012.

Sources tell Daily Ructions that Lumaj has been busy making the rounds and raising small contributions for his 2018 campaign. Keep an eye on the 4th quarter numbers he posts. Early money is the easiest to raise as you put the touch on family and friends. A slow start can doom a promising bid…

Peter Lumaj Exploring Run For Statewide Office In 2018

Some politicians believe it’s never too early to get started.

That is the case for Peter Lumaj, a Republican attorney who filed his papers Tuesday for statewide office – in 2018.

Lumaj, who ran for U.S. Senate in 2012 and Secretary of the State in 2014, opened up an exploratory committee – meaning he does not need to declare for a particular statewide office.

“I’m starting early,” Lumaj said in an interview in the Capitol press room. “We’re looking at all the possibilities for 2018. It’s open-ended.”

Fairfield lawyer Peter Lumaj will spend the holiday weekend making final preparations for a 2018 bid for statewide office. It will be Lumaj’s third attempt. In 2012, he launched a long shot candidacy for the Republican nomination for the United States Senate. Two years later, was the Republican nominee for secretary of the state and ran a credible campaign against incumbent Denise Merrill. Lumaj made many friends among the party faithful during that campaign and has tended to those new relationship in the past two years…
